5 Important Things That Your Pet Dog Needs

Pet dogs are a bundle of joy and people love to have around in their homes. Dogs are the most common pet animals in America and around the world. Since there are just below 200 breeds of dogs the prospective owners can choose from, it is easy for people to choose one that fits them and their lifestyle. Dogs take up many responsibilities: family dogs, service dogs, working dogs, etc.

In recent years dogs have gained popularity as therapy dogs and Emotional Support Animals (ESAs). As an ESA your dog will need an emotional support dog letter from a mental health specialist. The therapy dogs, however, need training and require registration.

No matter what part your pet animal fulfills in your life it is best if you take care of your pet dog and fulfill its every need. This is important especially if you are dependent upon your pet for your emotional and mental stability.

Here are five things that you should do to make sure your pet dog is healthy both in body and mind:

Get your dog checked-up by a veterinarian

You should visit with your dog to the vet’s clinic a minimum of once every 6 months. You can try out different vets at the start and settle with one that you find suitable and apt. The vet will give your dog the proper vaccination and will give your pet the heartworm prevention medicine that it needs. Various Mental disorders could led you to get an ESA for yourself.

If you have a pup with you then you will need to visit the pet weekly for its vaccination, medication, and monitoring its growth. You can also take help from your vet on how to raise and train your pup.

Provide your dog with proper Nutrition

A healthy diet is important for your pet dog. If your dog doesn’t get optimal nutrition it can affect its health and its energy levels. At times lack of proper nutrition affects the dog’s coat, causes it to lose weight, and affects its digestion.

Always choose a diet that is of high quality and has favorable reviews from fellow dog owners. You should introduce the diet to your pet and monitor its behavior for the next few weeks. If there are any drops in the energy levels, weight, or general mood then you should change to some other diet. Make sure to not overfeed your dog, especially if it is a breed with low energy levels.

Engage your dog in activities and exercise

The energy levels of dogs change from one breed to the next. If you have a dog breed that requires regular exercise make sure to provide plenty of outdoor exercises in order to burn off the excess energy. Through daily exercise, your pet will remain fit and active and will be saved from becoming destructive and exhibiting other behavioral problems.

You can also apply for an online ESA letter if you don't feel like walking to your medical specialist. If you don’t have enough time on your hands to exercise your pet then get a dog that has a low energy level or try to hire a professional dog walker.

Take care of your pet’s dental health

Ignoring your dog’s dental health can cause serious problems, even life-threatening ones. You should brush your dog’s teeth, use oral rinses, and other products such as dental treats, to find the buildup of plaque and tartar. You can ask your pet for advice, and consult a professional to take care of its oral health.

Groom your pet dog regularly

Depending on the dog breed you will need to make sure to groom your dog according to a set routine. The grooming responsibilities include giving your dog a bath, trimming the nails, cleaning the pads, brushing the coat, etc. For short-haired dogs bruising once a week is adequate, while for longer-haired dogs brushing should be done every day.

You should take your dog to a professional groomer once in a while. They will also check your dog for any abnormal signs and check your dog for any skin parasites.
